“Oh, to sleep like a baby…”

“Oh, to sleep like a baby…”

Wait a minute… If you are a parent of a little one you know that you actually don’t want to sleep like a baby. Their sleep, especially in the early months, is typically full of interruptions, which subsequently means so is yours. In talking with some of my own friends, I have come to find that one of the biggest struggles we face as parents is getting good, quality rest. Did you know this week is National Sleep Awareness Week? Well, it is! And, thanks to Leesa I have the opportunity to share some of our experiences in this area with all of you.

Take a minute and think about this question (and be honest with yourself!): How do YOU sleep? I am talking to all of you mamas for a minute… When was the last time you had a really good night’s sleep? Was it pre-babies? Maybe even pre-pregnancy? Well, I can totally relate. In the last 4 years my husband and I have had 3 babies, and so I know a thing or two about those sleepless or close-to-sleepless nights.

Being a mom is, hands down, the hardest job I have ever had, and a lack of sleep just kind of comes with the territory, am I right? It’s easy to blame pregnancies, newborn feeding schedules and/ or toddlers who would prefer to snuggle next to Mom and/or Dad than sleep in their own room. I have always believed that sleep is important, but I focused my thoughts more on the number of hours of sleep versus the quality of the sleep itself. But, what if our measure of rest wasn’t just about the number of hours, but the quality of the sleep we were getting while asleep?

A couple of weeks ago my hubby and I traded our old traditional spring mattress from our just-married (and pre-baby) days for a Leesa mattress. I didn’t know if I would notice a big difference between the old and the new. My husband was skeptical too. But, we both noticed a change, and right away. The Leesa is a comfortable but medium-firm mattress that is made from three layers of high quality foam that delivers contouring pressure relief and core support for simply great sleep. The lack of motion transfer is also something I noticed on night one. Perfect for couples, or those who may have little ones crawling (or jumping!) into bed with them some nights.

Leesa offers a completely different mattress-buying experience for its customers. They not only eliminate the sales people, they also eliminate the countless choices you face when you walk into a mattress store. My husband and I have, in the past, felt pretty overwhelmed with all of the choices in the stores and nowadays we would have to get a sitter to even shop around for a mattress (seriously, with 3 kids 4 years old and younger I don’t think a family outing to a nearby mattress store would be fun… For anyone!) And, let’s be real: How can you tell from laying on something for 30 seconds if it is right for you? I wouldn’t want to take a chance like that… And now we don’t have to.

Leesa provides a better shopping experience which includes a 100 night risk-free trial, 10 year warrant, free shipping via UPS (in the US, Canada, Germany and the UK) and a mattress that is 100% American-made and available exclusively online. I love the 100 night risk-free trial, because you need time (definitely more than a few minutes awkwardly laying on a mattress in a store environment!) to make sure a mattress is the right fit for you. Oh, and lets talk about price for a second: Leesa offers mattresses in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King and California King sizes and with prices starting at just $525. And, all mattress sizes are available for under $1000, with available discount offers. The combination of luxury and affordability that the Leesa brand offers is definitely something that this Mama loves.

Leesa’s mission is simple, “to help people sleep better…” and since getting our new mattress I have given a lot of thought to better sleep and what that really means. Like I hinted at above, it isn’t just about the number of hours you sleep each night. I sleep better these days on our new mattress, but I don’t sleep any more than I did on our old mattress. I won’t lie: I still dread the alarm clock most mornings and don’t jump out of our bed with a new-found spring in my step, but I do wake up and feel more rested, and that allows me to function differently throughout my day, starting with the moment I wake. And while everyone needs their rest, I believe us moms really need to ensure that we are taking care of ourselves in this area, so that we can be the best versions of ourselves for our little ones. Are you with me Mamas?

On my Instagram feed, @lunchesandlittles, I share a lot about healthy food and how those choices contribute to overall wellness. And good, quality rest can only help multiply the effects of your healthy daytime habits. As we are in the midst of National Sleep Awareness Week I want to stress just that: A good, quality mattress can not only change your sleep; it can change your life. Our Leesa has proven to me that even for a busy, tired Mama a good night sleep is totally possible. Now that is great news.

Remember: Good sleep isn’t just about quantity. It is about quality. Over the last few years I just assumed that I wasn’t sleeping enough, but what I didn’t understand was that I wasn’t just missing out on a few hours here and there; I was missing out on comfort. Now that I am laying down each night in a new mattress, my quality of sleep has improved, even if the time I spend in bed has stayed the same. When you sleep better, you live better and I am thankful that Leesa helped us realize all that we were missing out on before! Find out more on Leesa’s website today and take their 100 night risk-free trial! Change your mattress; change your life.

Please note: Leesa provided us a free mattress for review. However, all opinions stated above are my own.
